The bare minimum you need for starting is a Book Binder, an Ink Mixer, some leather, ink, and paper. This is a simple guide to creating your own age. The first two metals you're going to come across are Copper & Aluminum. Smeltery - From the Flint Age to the Copper Age If you do the same thing, but press R, it will show what is used to make that item. If you put your Cursor over an item & press U, it will show all the things that item is used to make. There will be pages of things on the right hand side & you can scroll through them. Down the bottom, in the middle, there will be a little bar to type key words into for things you're looking for. If you do not have it up, open your inventory and press O. Luckily for you, there is this handy thing called the NEI which allows you to look up the recipe for things. PRO TIP - You can name your tools in the Tool Station before you finish crafting them! Tool Station (Can be upgraded later to a Tool Forge) - This is where you assemble the parts into tools. Part Builder - Used to make the individual parts for tools. If you place it next to a Part Builder, you won't need to hold your patterns in your inventory to build parts. Pattern Chest - Used to hold all your Patterns. Stencil Table - Used with a Blank Pattern to craft patterns for tools & weapons. The first tier of tools is Flint/Bone, but before you can do that, you will need to make yourself five things, if you've gathered sufficient wood.īlank Pattern - Used to make Patterns in the Stencil Table & craft the other four items below. Unfortunately, you cannot just make yourself some tools out of wood like normal Minecraft, other than a shovel. Tool Building - Set Yourself Apart From The Animals Making a bed & sleeping in it is a great idea as it sets your spawn point! PRO TIP - If you see Sheep, kill them for Wool and Mutton. Once you have found a nice spot, hopefully near some trees and water, you will need to either dig yourself a shelter or build one. Also try to gather some Wood, & if you see Gravel, that as well. I would suggest trying to break any bushes, grass or plants you see as they can drop food & that is your most precious resource. Avoid jumping or running as they both deplete your Hunger Bar faster, & once that runs out, you die, regardless of how many Hearts you have. You cannot break any blocks near the spawn, so you need to pick a direction & venture off. I would assume you have read the ImDeity FTB: How To Join Guide thread & have been able to connect. I would greatly appreciate & welcome any other contributions or suggestions for improvement. I will attempt to put useful screenshots etc & hopefully I can do it justice. With the popularity & interest that our FTB server has gained, I aim on constructing a more easy source of info for people getting started on it than Google/Youtube/ FTBWiki. The learning curve is steep but well worth it. Feed the Beast is a collection of mods which add blocks & dynamics that enhance Minecraft in a multitude of ways.
